Company
Our catchment area used to end at Kirchheim. Today we interview applicants from Bavaria and Hesse.
J. Maier · HR manager, tool making, Wendlingen
Parents
One price including everything — I know every month what will be on the bank statement. Plannable for us as a family.
Mr T. · Father, Heilbronn
Company
Two apprenticeship positions stayed unfilled for three years. With the room on offer, both were taken in one summer.
B. Kächele · Owner, plumbing & heating, Beuren
Parents
I was afraid of an anonymous dorm feeling. It is the opposite: three rooms, one home.
Family W. · Parents, Konstanz
Company
Our apprentice comes from Dresden. Her mother visited A23 — after that, everything was decided.
A. Bader · Practice manager, dental practice, Nürtingen
Parents
Dropped her off on Sunday; on Wednesday she called: "You do not need to worry." Nothing more is needed.
Family H. · Parents, Kassel
Company
In our apprentice marketing we treat the room like a company car: as a benefit. It works better.
S. Braun · HR officer, car dealership, Kirchheim unter Teck
Parents
The duvet was already there. Sounds small, but for a mother living 500 kilometres away, it means a lot.
Ms N. · Mother, Magdeburg
Company
Trial work from 300 kilometres away? We book a room for a week, done. That used to be unthinkable.
D. Deuschle · Owner, joinery, Grafenberg
Parents
We read the rental contract together. No small print, no traps. That has become rare.
Mr K. · Father, Koblenz
Company
Our journeyman of tomorrow lives at A23 today. Short distances, well rested, on time — that is all I want.
W. Eisele · Master painter, Aichtal
Parents
The landlords gave us their mobile number. At 400 kilometres distance, that is worth more than any contract clause.
Family C. · Parents, Fulda
Company
We almost stopped training apprentices. The room quota saved our apprenticeship programme.
G. Scheifele · Owner, roofing company, Kohlberg
Parents
Vocational school by bus from the door, workplace on foot — our child needs no car. That saves real money.
Mr B. · Father, Trier
Company
I once commuted 90 minutes to my own apprenticeship. I wanted to spare my apprentices that.
U. Kuhn · Master metalworker, Altdorf
Parents
The other two in the flat are apprentices too. Everyone understands why it is quiet early on weeknights.
Family M. · Parents, Regensburg
Company
The trades have a golden future — but only if the next generation can find housing. That is exactly what was missing here.
O. Brändle · Guild master, trades guild, Esslingen
Parents
The height-adjustable desk honestly surprised me. She sat worse at home.
Mr O. · Father, Osnabrück
Company
After being taken on, our former apprentice simply kept the room. Loyalty also comes from an address.
M. Betz · Managing director, precision mechanics, Riederich
Parents
Fair deposit, clean handover protocol, everything documented. You can tell someone rents out with a system here.
Mr V. · Father, Gießen
Company
At apprenticeship fairs, parents ask about accommodation first. Now we finally have an answer.
J. Roth · Owner, electrical company, Wolfschlugen
Parents
Our daughter is homesick — of course. But she has a room she likes being in. That helps more than you would think.
Ms I. · Mother, Zwickau
Company
The applicant market is swept empty. Housing is the one argument nobody has copied yet.
C. Nägele · Head of HR, plant engineering, Plochingen
Parents
A smart TV in the room means video calls on a big screen. On Sundays we practically sit in the living room together.
Family T. · Parents, Chemnitz
Company
I was sceptical whether flat-sharing works. Then I saw the house rules. Better organised than some companies.
R. Springer · Head of training, industrial services, Esslingen
Parents
We have three children. The middle one lives at A23 — and is the only one who tidies his room voluntarily.
Family G. · Parents, Paderborn
Company
A tax firm does not sound exciting to school leavers. A room of your own for the first year does.
I. Waibel · Office manager, tax firm, Nürtingen
Parents
My son is a baker apprentice. Getting up at four only works if you are not already in the car at half past three.
Ms R. · Mother, Hof
Company
Our third-year painter says she will stay in the region after her journeyman exam. The room was the beginning.
T. Held · Owner, painting company, Metzingen
Parents
As a father I will put it unromantically: clean condition, clear contract, fixed price. Deal.
Mr W. · Father, Siegen
Company
Hospitality means finishing at midnight. Without a short way home, you will not find trainees anymore.
M. Auer · Restaurateur, country inn, Neuffen
Parents
Our daughter absolutely wanted the Stuttgart region. It was only affordable this way.
Family B. · Parents, Nordhausen
Company
A23 was the reason an applicant from Thuringia contacted us in the first place.
P. Lutz · Managing director, special machinery, Kirchheim unter Teck
Parents
Four of us came on move-in day: mother, father, grandma, apprentice. Grandma inspected the wardrobe and nodded.
Family L. · Parents, Bayreuth
Company
E-mobility is booming, skilled workers are scarce. We win them through training plus housing.
J. Kern · Service manager, car dealership, Reutlingen
Parents
I had a list of 14 questions. After the viewing, twelve were already answered.
Ms W. · Mother, Offenburg
Company
We write the room straight into the apprenticeship contract. Since then, nobody cancels at short notice.
E. Sailer · Managing director, metal processing, Neckartenzlingen
Parents
My daughter takes the train home to Würzburg at weekends. During the week, honestly, she hardly needs us anymore.
Ms P. · Mother, Würzburg
Company
Our company is in the industrial park, A23 in the town centre. The apprentice has both within walking distance.
R. Reusch · Plant manager, machining, Großbettlingen
Parents
We pay less than for the big sister's student room in Munich — with better furnishings.
Family D. · Parents, Emden
Company
I recommend the model to every colleague in the guild. Some arguments do not need to be kept secret.
H. Geiger · Owner, metalwork shop, Kirchheim unter Teck
Parents
I was against him moving out at 17. Today I admit: it was the right decision. Do not tell him.
Ms V. · Mother, Lörrach
Company
Our hotel trainee has lived at StudentCampus since her flat-share in Stuttgart became unaffordable. She is noticeably more relaxed.
S. Allgaier · Hotel director, Metzingen
Parents
The apprenticeship was his dream, the distance my nightmare. A23 reconciled both.
Ms O. · Mother, Kiel
Company
Training is our only chance at skilled workers. Housing is the prerequisite for it to work.
F. Baumann · Owner, carpentry & timber construction, Grafenberg
Parents
Seen from Kiel, Großbettlingen is far away. After the first video call from her room, it suddenly felt close.
Family A. · Parents, Kiel
Company
The apprentice pays one price, everything included. I never have to moderate utility-bill debates. Wonderfully simple.
N. Hartmann · Owner, electrical installation, Neuffen
Parents
We parents pay nothing on top. Apprentice pay, company subsidy, BAB — it carries itself. I would not have believed it.
Mr D. · Father, Neubrandenburg

Internship & Studies

Also for interns and students — furnished, for a fixed term

Not just apprentices: when a room is free, we also let to interns, working students and university students — for the duration of an internship, practical semester or thesis. Move in with one suitcase, one all-in price, terms from about 2 months. Coming from abroad — e.g. for an internship at Neura Robotics in Metzingen? We communicate in English, and the all-in price means no German utility contracts to set up.

Interns

Internships at companies in the region

Whether a practical semester at Neura Robotics in Metzingen (approx. 6 km), at machine builders around Nürtingen or in the trades: your internship company is rarely more than 15 minutes away by car. International interns welcome — English-speaking landlord, help with the local address registration (Anmeldung).

Students

Studying at HfWU, Reutlingen & Esslingen

HfWU Nürtingen-Geislingen is approx. 5 km away (bus 185 direct), Reutlingen University approx. 14 km, Esslingen University approx. 20 km — cheaper and quieter than living in the city.

FAQ

Good to know

How much does a room at A23 cost?

Rooms cost €395 (11 m²), €495 (15 m²) and €650 (21 m² with balcony) — all-in per month, including rent, electricity, heating, water & sewage and high-speed Wi-Fi. No utility bill surprises.

Will my training company pay the rent?

+

Many training companies cover the rent fully or partially to attract apprentices from a wider area. Ask your company — or put them in touch with us and we will explain the model.

What is BAB — and am I eligible?

+

Berufsausbildungsbeihilfe (BAB) is a grant from the Federal Employment Agency for apprentices living away from home for their training — it never has to be repaid. Whether and how much you receive depends on your training pay and rent; the official online BAB calculator tells you in a few minutes. BAB can be combined with a rent contribution from your employer.

Who can live at A23?

+

Apprentices with a training contract (school-based or dual) and dual-study students. Before the contract is signed, a confirmation from the future training company is sufficient. Minors from 16 can move in with parental consent. When a room is free, we also let to interns, working students and university students.

Can interns or students rent a room too?

+

Yes. When a room is free, we also let to interns, working students and university students for interim periods — e.g. a practical semester at companies in Metzingen or Nürtingen, or studies at HfWU Nürtingen (approx. 5 km, bus 185 direct) or Reutlingen University (approx. 14 km). Apprentices with a training contract have priority.

For what period can I rent?

+

Usually for the duration of the apprenticeship — the exact rental period is agreed individually. Just use the booking form with your preferred dates.

Are rooms available for interim lets during an internship?

+

Yes, from about 2 months — matching the duration of an internship, practical semester or thesis. All rooms are furnished; one all-in price including Wi-Fi, electricity and heating. Move in with one suitcase.

I am coming from abroad for an internship — can I rent a room?

+

Yes. We communicate in English, the room is fully furnished and one all-in price covers rent, electricity, heating and Wi-Fi — no German utility contracts needed. We help with the local address registration (Anmeldung). Stuttgart Airport is approx. 20 km away.

Can I view the room online without travelling here?

+

Yes. Just request a video link: depending on the room, we send you a video of the room and the shared spaces as a link to our Dropbox shared space — watch it whenever it suits you, as often as you like. A short message via the contact form is enough.

Are the rooms furnished?

+

Yes, fully. Every room has a comfortable bed with mattress, pillow and duvet, an electrically height-adjustable desk with an ergonomic chair, a spacious wardrobe and a modern smart TV. Kitchen and bathroom are shared in the flat — move in with one suitcase.

How good is the Wi-Fi in the house?

+

Superfast high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the flat — even available in the basement. Streaming, online gaming, video calls and vocational-school learning platforms run in parallel without lag. Wi-Fi is already included in the all-in rent.

Is there a coffee machine in the shared kitchen?

+

Yes — a new PHILIPS Senseo Original Plus in black. Insert a pad, press the button, done: fresh coffee before work or vocational school in under a minute.

Is there a microwave?

+

Yes, the shared kitchen has a new microwave — after a late shift or school day, dinner is hot in two minutes.

How much space does the fridge offer?

+

The kitchen has a modern, tall free-standing fridge with a freezer compartment — enough space for all three residents, plus room to freeze supplies.

Is there a dishwasher?

+

Yes, a new dishwasher is part of the kitchen — load it, switch it on, done. The classic flat-share dishes debate is settled.

Can I do laundry at A23?

+

Yes, the laundry room has a modern washing machine with dryer function — wash and dry in one appliance. Use costs extra, approx. €3 per wash cycle.

Where can I store my bike or e-bike securely?

+

In the lockable bike cellar right in the house — dry, secure and accessible to residents only. Your bike is safe overnight and through the winter.

How does StudentCampus ensure a comfortable room temperature?

+

Every room is fitted with smart thermostats — intelligent radiator controllers for comfort and energy efficiency. They are highly reliable, adjust automatically to the outside temperature and regulate everything by themselves. If you accidentally leave a window open, the thermostats detect it and switch off automatically so no energy is wasted. If it ever feels too cool, simply turn the temperature up manually — or send us an email or WhatsApp and we adjust it remotely for you. Every StudentCampus flat and room is equipped with this system.

How is A23 protected against fire — are there smoke detectors?

+

Yes — networked ones: the house is fitted with X-Sense XS01-M smart smoke detectors with the SBS50 base station, certified to EN 14604. The wireless detectors are interconnected via Wi-Fi: if one triggers, all alarms in the house sound — and the X-Sense app sends an instant notification. Rooms and shared spaces are monitored around the clock.

How secure is the house against break-ins?

+

The entrance door withstands even determined break-in attempts thanks to a firmly anchored door frame and three security bolts. Every room also has a new door with its own profile cylinder lock and key — only you can enter your room.

How do I get to work or vocational school without a car?

+

The "Nürtinger Straße" bus stop (lines 185, 187, 195, X19) is about a 4-minute walk. Nürtingen with its train station is approx. 5 km away (bus 185 direct), Metzingen approx. 6 km, Reutlingen approx. 14 km.

I am looking for an apprentice room in Nürtingen — is A23 an option?

+

Yes. A23 is located in Großbettlingen, approx. 5 km from Nürtingen — bus 185 runs directly to the station, by car it takes about 7 minutes. Furnished rooms at an all-in price from €395.

Are there affordable apprentice rooms in the Stuttgart region?

+

Affordable housing for apprentices is scarce in Stuttgart itself. A23 in Großbettlingen is approx. 30 km south (airport approx. 20 km) and offers furnished rooms from €395 all-in — an alternative for companies between Stuttgart, Reutlingen and Kirchheim unter Teck.

For companies from which towns is A23 a good fit?

+

For training companies within roughly a 15-minute drive — including Nürtingen, Frickenhausen, Bempflingen, Neckartenzlingen, Metzingen, Neuffen, Aichtal, Wolfschlugen, Wendlingen am Neckar and Kirchheim unter Teck. The vocational schools in Nürtingen and Kirchheim are also quickly reachable.
